Welcome to the

Early Intervention Clearinghouse

Dear Families,

Welcome to the Early Intervention Clearinghouse! Our mission is to serve the 20,000 families in Illinois who have infants and toddlers enrolled in early intervention (EI) services. We are a resource for you—we’re only a phone call or email away. We have a library of videos, books, manuals, and journals related to the development of young children with special needs and their families. Our librarians are information specialists who can help find resources for you and your service provider. Our Web site links to other resources in the state and nation.

As a mom whose newborn was in EI more than a decade ago, I remember how I wanted information about my baby. I wanted to know if he was growing enough, babbling enough, walking soon enough. I wanted to know how to help him eat, play, and eventually sleep through the night. I also wanted to know more about the speech therapy, physical therapy, and developmental therapy we received. I found information here. We at the Clearinghouse hope that you will use this Web site to help yourself and your child. It helped me to know that the state of Illinois was invested in my son’s future and my family’s future through early intervention services.

Several times a year we’ll share success stories of families whose infant or toddler was in EI. The first story is mine. Click here if you’d like to read it.

Warm wishes,
Susan Fowler, Director
